A Word about the new Idaho "Constitutional Carry" law
When the Founding Fathers were arguing the merits and contents of the constitution, there were two groups of thought.
Please read the Federalist papers (#24 & #25) and Anti-Federalist papers (#24 & #25)
Group 1 - The Federalists
They believed in a strong government and in the necessity of a standing army for the country.
Their belief was that the states had to be solidly joined under a union and that an army was needed to maintain the defense of the country.
Group 2 - The Anti-Federalists
They believed in strong states rights and the rights of the individual. They feared a strong standing (peacetime) army and the tyranny that could come from that power being controlled by the government.
From that argument, there came a compromise, the Bill of Rights and for this discussion specifically, the 2nd Amendment. The result was that the new country would have a standing army and the populace would have the codified right to defend itself against tyranny.
In Idaho, we have the right to carry concealed without a permit (within the bounds of the law). This is a very heavy responsibility. With great rights, come great responsibilities.
When you take a "Concealed Carry" course, you are not taking a course to gain a permit. You are paying for the education that will enlighten you and train you to be safe, effective and to know the laws within which you must operate.
I strongly urge all to take some form of education before you decide to own a firearm (or any other tool) for self defense, whether it is to be kept in the home, open carried, conceal carried, carried in a vehicle, or where ever and how ever it might be used for self defense.
An untrained person doing the wrong thing may be the reason someone, someday is able to repeal our right to self-defense.
